D-FLEX 8-STRAND

D-Flex is a high-performance, 8-strand plaited rope engineered from a precision blend of high-tenacity polypropylene (PP) and polyester (PET) fibers.

This dual-fiber composition delivers the light weight and buoyancy of polyolefin with the exceptional strength, abrasion resistance and low elongation of polyester. With a torque-free, snag-resistant balanced plait construction, D-Flex maintains stability under sustained load, performs reliably in harsh marine environments and retains high strength after prolonged submersion. Its near-neutral buoyancy makes it ideal for mooring, towing and offshore applications where line flotation and reduced snapback are critical to safety and efficiency. Designed to conform to ISO 10556, ISO 2307, OCIMF MEG4 and class society standards, D-Flex provides a long service life with minimal maintenance requirements. Applications

  • Dual-Fiber Performance: Combines ~60% PP and ~40% PET for optimal strength-to-weight ratio.
  • High Breaking Strength: 20–30% stronger than pure polypropylene ropes of equivalent size.
  • Low Elongation: Working elongation significantly lower than PP, ~18–20% at break.
  • Near-Neutral Buoyancy: Specific gravity ~0.99–1.14; floats or just below waterline.
  • Excellent Abrasion Resistance: Polyester fibers protect polyolefin core against wear.
  • UV & Chemical Resistant: Stabilised for sunlight exposure; inert to most marine chemicals.
  • Temperature Tolerance: Service temperature governed by polypropylene component; suitable for continuous use up to ~70–80 °C, with polypropylene melting point ~165 °C.
  • Reduced Snapback: Polyester moderates recoil, enhancing mooring safety.
  • Meets Global Standards: ISO, OCIMF, ABS/LR certification available.
